The Black Arts Alliance thanks everyone who supported the Eighth Annual Cine Noir Festival of Black film. We are getting great feedback about the wonderful lineup of shorts, docs, and features.
We honored Giancarlo Esposito with our Ovation Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to African-American cinema. Long recognized for his talents in front of the camera, we were proud to mark his directorial debut with the screening of "Gospel Hill." We were also fortunate to have him with us through Sunday, sharing his experiences with the many filmmakers also in attendance.
The two categories eligible for jury consideration this years were shorts and docs. Following are the winners:
Shorts:
1st Place - "Two Joints, Three Condoms, and a Dog Named Fifi" directed by Jeruvia.
2nd Place - "Do You" directed by Gordon Williams
3rd Place - "When the Shoe's on the Other Foot" directed by Gary Hughes
Docs:
1st Place - "Daddy Hunger" by Ray Upchurch
2nd Place - "Ursula Rucker: Poet" by Michael Dennis
3rd Place - "One Little Difference" by Elan Sobel
