About the Festival

The North Carolina Black Film Festival is a multi-day film event hosted in Wilmington, North Carolina by the Black Arts Alliance. Now in its 24th year, the festival showcases short films, features, documentaries, and animations by Black filmmakers and creatives. It celebrates bold storytelling across genres and formats while creating space for new voices, fresh perspectives, and meaningful conversations.

Through curated screenings and community-driven events, the festival connects filmmakers, industry professionals, and audiences while amplifying stories that reflect the diversity and depth of the Black experience.

The 24th annual North Carolina Black Film Festival will be hosted in Wilmington May 1st - May 3, 2026!

Submit your film by February 23rd.
